About Us

Rowangarth opened in 2008. We can provide services for adults aged over 18, who have a disability. We are also able to provide services for adults who have Early Onset Dementia (Working Age Dementia).

Our aim is to provide our clients with fulfilling and rewarding activities on a daily basis that are tailored to meet individual needs.

The Day Centre is managed by Jennie Taylor. Jennie had previously worked as a nurse in the community for over 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care of people with physical and learning disabilities and dementia.

Lydia is our Assistant Manager. She has worked with people with physical and learning disabilities for over 6 years. She has an National Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care.

All of our care staff are qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 2 and all of them hold current CRB and POVA clearance in order to ensure their suitability for our clients. Our staff are trained and updated on a regular basis.

Personal care is provided as necessary. We also have access to NHS Specialist services such as physiotherapy, speech and Language Therapy and dieticians as well as Specialist Nurses.

Our philosophy is that our clients should have a choice about how they spend their time and that is why we provide a whole menu of activities and experiences to suit individual ability.

parkWe work with our clients in small groups which enables us to give individual attention when needed. The main area of the Day Centre is open plan, which means that it is flexible and can be changed to suit the activities taking place. We pride ourselves in offering our service in a homely and friendly environment.

We offer activities both on and off-site. Many of our on-site activities are designed to increase independence and improve the ability to carry out everyday tasks and improve Life Skills. We also provide lots of activities with the emphasis on fun, socialising and relaxation.

We take regular trips out to places of interest and more locally, to parks, shopping, pub lunches etc. Our minibus has a tail lift to cater for our wheelchair bound clients. Where possible, we use public transport around the local area, which maintains or improves on our clients’ travel training.

All our clients automatically become members of our Patron’s Committee and we consult with them regularly on aspects of the service we provide.
